Visiona Space Technology is a space systems development company located in São José dos Campos, São Paulo state, Brazil. Visiona is currently in the detailed design phase of the first nanosatellite conceived and lead by Brazilian industry. This project, called VCUB1, formally started in 2018 and its target launch date is envisaged for mid-2020 and will mark the first step to future high performance remote sensing and IoT constellation. The company plan is to perform in-orbit demonstration of state image acquisition using a scalable low cost platform. VCUB1 is a 10kg 6U CubeSat intended to validate internal Visiona developments, such as its own proprietary ADCS software, OBSW and SDR-based digital transponder.
ADCS - Attitude Determination and Control System. This subsystem is responsible for spacecraft autonomous navigation, guidance and control. Visiona developed an indigenous ADCS algorithm that is aimed at high pointing accuracy LEO missions, which will be initially validated at VCUB1 mission.
OBSW - On Board Software. This is the central real-time embedded software, responsible for the spacecraft data processing, housekeeping and communication with the ground station.
SDR - Software Defined Radio. The SDR is the software-based system that performs the transceiver role, but with the advantage to be reconfigurable, in contrast with traditional hardware-implemented radio communication systems. In VCUB1, the digital data collection transponder payload relies on an Internet-of-Things SDR.
